| Breaking News | | Monday, August 17th, 2015: Texas League Picks Top Performer 23-year-old Juan Salazar sent shock waves through Texas League last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the Texas League Player of the Week Award.
A newcomer to the league, Salazar made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .565 average, 13 hits in 23 at-bats, no home runs and 6 runs batted in.
Where the San Antonio Missions right fielder goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Salazar certainly made his mark last week.
This season Salazar has banged out 147 hits in 437 at-bats for a .336 average with 12 home runs. He is getting on base at a .421 pace and his totals also include 59 RBIs and 61 runs scored. | | Friday, August 7th, 2015: Missions Shut out by Rudder It was a smooth and solid performance by Jon Rudder of the Corpus Christi Hooks against San Antonio today. He crafted a fine 5-hitter in blanking them 9-0 and chalked up 13 strikeouts and 2 walks along the way.
"It certainly makes my job easy," said the Corpus Christi skipper. "When my pitcher pitches a shutout. I can just sit back, watch and enjoy."
This year Rudder has fanned 161 in 165.1 innings and collected a 10-8 record with a 2.56 ERA. | | Friday, June 19th, 2015: Red-Hot Fox Scorches Missions Midland first baseman John Fox could do no wrong in today's 15-5 win over the Missions as he collected 5 hits.
"In every one of his at-bats things were in his favor... he got hitter's counts," the skipper of the Missions said to the press corps after the game.
Fox agreed. "The key is getting ahead. Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit. You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready."
J. Fox walked in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off S. Parsons in the 9th.
Fox is hitting .306 so far this season with 25 RBIs and 31 runs scored. He has 56 hits including 9 home runs, 19 walks and .376 OBP. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 61-79, .436 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 16.0 GB | | Record at home | 32-38, .457 PCT | | Record on the road | 29-41, .414 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 4-5, .444 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 18-20, .474 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 22-24, .478 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 39-55, .415 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 4-6, .400 PCT | | Record in April | 10-10, .500 PCT | | Record in May | 11-19, .367 PCT | | Record in June | 9-17, .346 PCT | | Record in July | 17-12, .586 PCT | | Record in August | 12-17, .414 PCT | | Record in September | 2-4, .333 PCT |
