| Breaking News | | Thursday, August 27th, 2015: Ross Bewilders Dash in Shutout Alex Ross kept Winston-Salem hitters off balance all game long as the Lynchburg pitcher blanked the Dash 9-0. They managed to get 3 hits off Ross, who struck out 7 and walked 0.
This year Ross has worked 188.2 innings with 112 strikeouts en route to a 9-10 record and 4.48 ERA. | | Sunday, August 23rd, 2015: Burton Holds Dash Scoreless Brian Burton of the Salem Red Sox was on top of his game today. He tantalized the Winston-Salem Dash with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest and came away with a 14-0 shutout.
In the postgame comments, the Winston-Salem skipper said, "He had the changeup working. You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The Salem hurler had 5 strikeouts, gave up 2 walks and surrendered 6 hits in his complete-game effort.
Burton told reporters after the game, "To be successful in this league, you have to keep the ball down. If you don't, they'll make you pay."
This season Burton has gone 4-10 with an ERA of 5.71, posting 46 strikeouts in 112 innings. | | Saturday, August 22nd, 2015: Snelson 5-5 for Salem It was a big day with the bat for Geoff Snelson of the Salem Red Sox at Salem Memorial Stadium as he bashed out hit after hit after hit to defeat Winston-Salem 9-5.
To the press after the ballgame he modestly said, "Guys, it's just one game in a long season. I hit it hard and found some holes today. 5 hits in 5 tries. But my hits are not the big thing in the game. The victory is the important thing. That's the story."
At the end of the game Snelson had collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats and a small mention in the record book. He was happy. He had a big day with the bat. And the Red Sox had won.
The beat writers were happy, too. They had their big story -- they could write about his big day with the bat.
G. Snelson singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
Looking at his stats this year, Snelson has compiled a .276 batting average, while hitting 2 home runs and driving in 50 runs. He has played in 119 games and scored 57 runs. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | CF Tom Maloney | fractured elbow | 8-9 months | Not on DL | | 1B Antón Morín | herniated disc (back) | 3 days | Not on DL | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 44-96, .314 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 42.0 GB | | Record at home | 22-48, .314 PCT | | Record on the road | 22-48, .314 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 6-4, .600 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 16-24, .400 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 14-30, .318 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 30-66, .313 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 0-10, .000 PCT | | Record in April | 10-10, .500 PCT | | Record in May | 13-17, .433 PCT | | Record in June | 10-16, .385 PCT | | Record in July | 5-23, .179 PCT | | Record in August | 6-23, .207 PCT | | Record in September | 0-7, .000 PCT |
