| Breaking News | | Sunday, October 4th, 2015: Quintana Honored, 2015 SALLY SALLY MVP It was a season to remember for Juan Quintana. He was one of the most dangerous men in the league when he had a bat in his hand, and the South Atlantic League announced today that he has won the SALLY MVP for 2015.
The Rome first baseman dominated opposing pitchers with a .427 batting average, 39 doubles, 4 triples, 55 home runs and 186 RBIs while compiling a .515 on-base percentage and scoring 125 runs. | | Sunday, September 20th, 2015: Milton Goes on Rampage Against Intimidators 5 hits in a game has always been a magic number in baseball. Only a handful of players will do that. Get 5 hits in a game and you get your moment of glory... your 5 minutes of fame... you get your name in the record book. Win or lose you get listed.
Lance Milton got his name in the record book, but the Kannapolis Intimidators picked up the win, topping the Rome Braves 14-6.
"Sure, I would have much preferred to win the game, but that's not how it came out. In baseball you win some, lose some and some get rained out," the Rome second baseman expressed his feelings during the postgame press conference.
He certainly did his part today, pounding out hit after hit.
Later in the clubhouse Milton spoke further about his big game, "To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this was a special once-in-a-lifetime day. On the last hit, I was ready to swing at anything close, I was that excited. That's why my third base coach called time and told me, 'Calm down and wait for a good pitch.' That got me back on track and I nailed the first one in the strike zone."
On his record-setting day Milton delivered 5 hits in 5 at-bats, a day that will be good scrapbook material.
L. Milton singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
In 132 games this year Milton has posted a .274 average and put up these numbers: 5 home runs, 67 RBIs and 114 runs scored. | | Sunday, September 20th, 2015: Kannapolis Intimidators Win Round 2 Another page has been added to the South Atlantic League record book. The Kannapolis Intimidators have won their 1st league championship with a 14-6 win against the Rome Braves.
They took the Round 2 4-1 in games this season.
In regular season play Kannapolis finished with a record of 89-51 and ranked third in the Northern Division. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 96-44, .686 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 55-15, .786 PCT | | Record on the road | 41-29, .586 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 6-7, .462 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 19-10, .655 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 33-16, .673 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 63-28, .692 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 7-3, .700 PCT | | Record in April | 11-9, .550 PCT | | Record in May | 20-10, .667 PCT | | Record in June | 20-6, .769 PCT | | Record in July | 21-8, .724 PCT | | Record in August | 20-8, .714 PCT | | Record in September | 4-3, .571 PCT |
