| Breaking News | | Friday, October 9th, 2015: Carlisle of Great Falls Named Best Pitcher He's in the early phase of his career, but this past season Jason Carlisle performed like a veteran on the hill for the Great Falls Voyagers and walked away with the Pioneer League PIO Pitcher of the Year in the process.
The 21-year-old Voyagers star fashioned a 17-1 won-loss record in 2015 with a 1.62 ERA. In 144.1 innings of work and 18 starts, Carlisle struck out 129 while giving up 87 hits and 15 walks. He held opposing batters to a .170 average. | | Saturday, September 26th, 2015: Casper Ghosts Win Round 2 It was a clash of the two best teams in the Pioneer League -- the Casper Ghosts and the Great Falls Voyagers -- and when the dust cleared on the diamond -- the Ghosts were the 2015 Round 2 champions.
It all came to an end today at Mike Lansing Field, when Casper clinched the title with a 8-3 victory and won the series 4-3. It is the 3rd time it has happened in club history.
During the South regular season Casper put up a 62-14 record and finished first. | | Saturday, September 19th, 2015: Big Day with Bat: Smith 5-5 It was a good day for the Great Falls Voyagers as they dumped the Casper Ghosts 15-6 at Mike Lansing Field. Despite the loss it was a remarkable day for Ghosts John Smith, who went on quite a hitting spree with a 5-for-5 barrage.
The Casper center fielder told reporters afterward, "I have mixed emotions about this game. Getting 5 hits is really something special, but losing the ballgame spoils it to a certain extent. It's sort of like the feeling you get when your mother-in-law drives over a cliff in your new sports car."
Quizzed by the press corps about his personal hitting theories, he responded, "I don't have any buzz words. I'm 'not dialed in' or 'in a zone,' as they say. As far as the hitting goes, I try to keep it simple... try not to overthink it. I try not to look into it too much. Basically the pitcher throws the ball, I try to pick up the spin, then in a split second decide to try to hit it. Today I picked up the spin very well."
J. Smith doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run single in the 4th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This year Smith has hit at a .421 pace and produced 79 RBIs, 13 home runs and scored 85 runs. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | P Evan Salm | torn tricep muscle | 8 months | Not on DL | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 68-8, .895 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 33-5, .868 PCT | | Record on the road | 35-3, .921 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 3-0, 1.000 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 8-1, .889 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 16-1, .941 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 52-7, .881 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 9-1, .900 PCT | | Record in June | 8-0, 1.000 PCT | | Record in July | 25-5, .833 PCT | | Record in August | 27-2, .931 PCT | | Record in September | 8-1, .889 PCT |
