| Breaking News | | Saturday, October 10th, 2015: Crow Selected PIO's Best Hitter Jack Crow really stood out with the bat in the Pioneer League this year as he put together a .431 batting average. Today he was named the winner of the coveted 2015 PIO MVP.
He hit his way to an award-winning season with these stats: 122 hits, 12 home runs, 83 RBIs and 83 runs scored. | | Saturday, September 26th, 2015: Casper Ghosts Win Round 2 It was a clash of the two best teams in the Pioneer League -- the Casper Ghosts and the Great Falls Voyagers -- and when the dust cleared on the diamond -- the Ghosts were the 2015 Round 2 champions.
It all came to an end today at Mike Lansing Field, when Casper clinched the title with a 8-3 victory and won the series 4-3. It is the 3rd time it has happened in club history.
During the South regular season Casper put up a 62-14 record and finished first. | | Saturday, September 19th, 2015: Big Day with Bat: Smith 5-5 It was a good day for the Great Falls Voyagers as they dumped the Casper Ghosts 15-6 at Mike Lansing Field. Despite the loss it was a remarkable day for Ghosts John Smith, who went on quite a hitting spree with a 5-for-5 barrage.
The Casper center fielder told reporters afterward, "I have mixed emotions about this game. Getting 5 hits is really something special, but losing the ballgame spoils it to a certain extent. It's sort of like the feeling you get when your mother-in-law drives over a cliff in your new sports car."
Quizzed by the press corps about his personal hitting theories, he responded, "I don't have any buzz words. I'm 'not dialed in' or 'in a zone,' as they say. As far as the hitting goes, I try to keep it simple... try not to overthink it. I try not to look into it too much. Basically the pitcher throws the ball, I try to pick up the spin, then in a split second decide to try to hit it. Today I picked up the spin very well."
J. Smith doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run single in the 4th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This year Smith has hit at a .421 pace and produced 79 RBIs, 13 home runs and scored 85 runs. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | P Red Lott | ruptured tricep tendon | 5 months | Not on DL | | 2B Merlin Neal | ruptured disc (back) | 8-9 months | Not on DL | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 62-14, .816 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 31-7, .816 PCT | | Record on the road | 31-7, .816 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 2-1, .667 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 8-5, .615 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 10-4, .714 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 52-10, .839 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 10-0, 1.000 PCT | | Record in June | 8-0, 1.000 PCT | | Record in July | 24-6, .800 PCT | | Record in August | 20-8, .714 PCT | | Record in September | 10-0, 1.000 PCT |
