| Breaking News |  | Thursday, October 1st, 2015: Diamondbacks Fie to Miss Year Andrew Fie has to call it a season. The Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman sustained a season-ending injury against the Colorado Rockies and will not play again this year according to club doctors. Fie was injured while running the bases. His doctors diagnosed it as a torn ankle ligaments and stated that he would not be able to play for 12-13 months.
To date, Fie has collected 194 hits for a .304 average. He has posted 25 home runs, scored 121 runs and driven in 114 runs. |  | Thursday, October 1st, 2015: NL Top Batter Trophy Won by Kemp Matt Kemp battered National League pitchers all September and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.
"I've been around Major League Baseball long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 31-year-old Kemp told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I may not take the field and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."
In 27 games, Kemp hit .388 with 5 home runs, 21 RBIs and scored 22 runs.
This season Kemp is swinging the bat at a .311 rate with 179 hits in 576 at-bats. To date he has hit 20 home runs, scored 114 runs and driven in 107. |  | Tuesday, September 29th, 2015: 3-HR Binge for Nixon Against Arizona Colorado first baseman Tom Nixon sensed he was going to have a good game at the plate, but he underestimated just a little bit. Prior to the game, Nixon predicted he would hit a home run against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
During batting practice he told his teammates, "I really got my swing down pat. I feel some thunder in the lumber. I'm gonna get me a home run in this game." He was right. He did hit a home run -- three of them, in fact -- pacing the Rockies over the Diamondbacks 10-4.
"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Nixon told reporters after the game.
To go along with the homers, he collected 5 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
T. Nixon hit a two-run home run off Y. Petit in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Y. Petit in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off B. Logan in the 7th and grounded out in the 8th.
This season Nixon is swinging the bat at a .314 pace. He has hit 25 home runs and scored 83 times, while driving in 114.
