| Breaking News | | Tuesday, September 29th, 2015: 3-HR Binge for Nixon Against Arizona Colorado first baseman Tom Nixon sensed he was going to have a good game at the plate, but he underestimated just a little bit. Prior to the game, Nixon predicted he would hit a home run against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
During batting practice he told his teammates, "I really got my swing down pat. I feel some thunder in the lumber. I'm gonna get me a home run in this game." He was right. He did hit a home run -- three of them, in fact -- pacing the Rockies over the Diamondbacks 10-4.
"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Nixon told reporters after the game.
To go along with the homers, he collected 5 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
T. Nixon hit a two-run home run off Y. Petit in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Y. Petit in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off B. Logan in the 7th and grounded out in the 8th.
This season Nixon is swinging the bat at a .314 pace. He has hit 25 home runs and scored 83 times, while driving in 114. His on-base percentage is .396 and he has played in 150 games. | | Thursday, September 24th, 2015: Aguilera on Fire: 5-5 for Chicago (N) "It was like I was hitting little league pitching," said Roberto Aguilera after his 5-hit performance against the Rockies. "No offense meant to Colorado, but it was like I was back in little league again. I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Wrigley Field."
The Chicago (N) left fielder had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 5 at-bats and pacing his club to a 8-7 victory.
His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Roberto worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits."
"That's what I'm trying to do," Aguilera said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
R. Aguilera doubled in the 2nd, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off T. Parkinson in the 10th.
So far in 2015, Aguilera is batting .268 with 10 home runs and 73 RBIs. | | Friday, September 18th, 2015: Red-Hot Putnam Scorches Rockies "It was like I was hitting little league pitching," said Danny Putnam after his 5-hit performance against the Rockies.
