| Breaking News | | Tuesday, September 22nd, 2015: 9-Game Suspensions for Johnson-Brown Fight It was quite a row yesterday at R.F.K. Stadium. The Nationals Deryck Johnson and the Marlins Ken Brown backed up their angry words with a few shoves and a few swings. Then both dugouts raced onto the field and got involved in the fracas. When it was over, only Johnson and Brown were ejected.
As expected they were informed by the league office that they would each have to serve 9-game suspensions for their inappropriate actions.
This season Johnson is batting .218 with 124 hits, 27 home runs, 92 RBIs, .295 OBP and has scored 64 runs.
So far in 2015 Brown has compiled a 8-5 record with a 4.92 ERA. | | Sunday, August 16th, 2015: Howard Hitless, Streak Ends at 29 Late in the game Marlins right fielder Oscar Howard stepped into the batter box with his 29-game hitting streak on the line. Up to then he was without a hit. Sadly it just wasn't to be -- Howard did not get a hit -- and his streak was finally over. The Braves had stopped him, not allowing him a hit in 5 at-bats. However, Florida won the game 6-1.
"Winning the game took some of the disappointment out of it," Howard told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 29 straight games. It's something I will always remember."
This season Howard has hit 3 home runs and posted a .351 batting average. | | Tuesday, August 11th, 2015: Howard Extends Hit Streak to 25 Games Marlins right fielder Oscar Howard has extended his hitting streak to 25 games. He went 2-4 in today's game against the San Diego Padres. Florida won the ball game 5-2. O. Howard grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 4th, flied out in the 6th and hit a two-run single in the 8th.
