His manager said in postgame comments, "He kept hitting his spots and putting up zeroes."
Hoover registered 11 strikeouts and no walks.
Looking at his season stats, Hoover has won 12 and lost 13, collecting 209 strikeouts and 64 walks in 196.1 innings with a 3.44 ERA. |  | Friday, August 28th, 2015: Rainiers Benítez Tosses Masterpiece "I hope we miss him next time," the Portland manager said. Tacoma starter Vicente Benítez tamed the Portland Beavers 8-0 with a 4-hit shutout, finishing the game with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk in a sharp outing.
"I enjoy facing a team like that where I can get an out on one, two or three pitches," Benítez said. "It gives me a chance to be a lot more aggressive."
In 28 starts this season Benítez has gathered 14 wins while suffering 5 losses. He has pitched 205 innings, allowed 168 hits, struck out 182 and has a 2.55 ERA. |  | Friday, August 14th, 2015: Nielsen and Fick Brawl, League Suspends Them Today the league office handed out 2-game suspensions to Scott Nielsen of the Beavers and Larry Fick of the Rainiers for their roles in a benches-clearing skirmish at PGE Park yesterday.
The league commissioner said in the statement to both organizations, "This league does not condone fighting and aggressive conduct on the field, thus we had to take action to discourage this behavior in the future."
Thus far this season in 114 games Nielsen is batting .235 with 21 home runs, 76 RBIs and 62 runs scored. He has 97 hits in 413 at-bats.
Fick has posted a 17-2 record in 2015 with a 2.06 ERA.
